Renault Expands Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Production in Morocco

After a generally satisfactory year 2021, the Renault group has decided to expand its development prospects in Morocco, betting this year on electric and hybrid.

The persistence of the health crisis and the shortage of semiconductors did not affect the activities within the Renault group. As surprising as it may seem, the group reported good performance in the sale of its main brands: Dacia and Renault, reports L’Économiste, specifying that the two brands alone hold 40% of cumulative sales and market share.

This improvement was welcomed by the group’s executives, who already have strong ambitions for the current year. A commercial performance attributable to the group’s solid fundamentals, said Mohamed Bachiri, director of Renault-Maroc, adding that the group will continue to produce best-sellers not only for Morocco but also for the whole world.

According to the 2021 report, Dacia remains unbeatable, occupying the first place in sales for about fifteen years in Morocco. Alone, the brand weighs 26% of market share with 46,044 units sold in 2021. As for the 2nd place on the podium, it goes to the diamond brand, which totaled 23,677 transactions (13.5% market share).

For this year, the Renault group intends to renew its models and promote new ranges, to further boost commercial indicators and capitalize on the achievements in terms of positioning and market share.

In this wake, two new features will soon be launched on the Moroccan market. These are the Dacia Spring and the Renault Arkana. Spring is the brand’s very first 100% electric vehicle. A city car that was launched at the end of 2021 in Europe, while the Arkana is a compact and hybrid SUV. In terms of design, it is halfway between the Captur and the Kadjar. It will therefore be the brand’s first hybrid model to hit the Moroccan market.
