Religious Teacher Arrested for Child Sexual Assault in Rural Morocco

The rural commune of Ajedour, in the Safi region, is in turmoil after the outbreak of a case of sexual assault on an 8-year-old child. The alleged aggressor is none other than the village fqih, who was supposed to give religious lessons.
According to the newspaper Al Massae, which reports the facts, it was following the request of the inhabitants, in order to teach the Quran to their children, that this Fqih, aged 40 and father of three children, arrived in the rural commune of Ajedour, settling with his small family in the Maîtiyyat douar.
However, this case broke out last week, following the confidences made by the little boy to his mother. Immediately, the child’s grandfather went to file a complaint with the Echemaïa Gendarmerie Brigade. According to the child’s statement, he would be subjected to sexual abuse every day, at the time when the other children were learning the Quran, details the same source.
The investigation carried out by the gendarmerie elements as well as the results of the medical examinations have also confirmed the facts. With great detail, the medical file of this minor attests that he has indeed been sexually abused several times.
