Imam Arrested in Agadir for Alleged Sexual Abuse of Minors at Mosque

Accused of sexual abuse, an imam serving in a mosque in the douar of Aït Ibrahim under the commune of Sidi Bouali, in Tiznit, appeared before the Court of Appeal of Agadir.
Two rape complaints led to the arrest of the fqih by the Royal Gendarmerie. One was filed by parents of two students (a boy and a girl), the other by another parent.
According to the testimonies of the victims (minors), the accused used violence to force them to yield to his desires. According to the father, it was the refusal of his daughter to go to the mosque where she was learning the Quran and the deterioration of her psychological health that aroused his suspicions.
He discovered, after questioning his child, that the Fqih was abusing her. Shocked by what he had learned, he conducted his own investigation with his daughter’s classmates. They confirmed the facts.
This testimony, another parent whose son was born in 2010, also did. His son recounted that the religious man forced him to bring a bucket of water and go to the toilet where he joined him to abuse him.
