Real Estate Fraud in Morocco: 200 Families Duped in Decade-Long Apartment Scam

The commercial director of a real estate company was sentenced to 5 years in prison for fraud by the court of first instance of Essaouira. This arrest came after several protests and complaints filed by hundreds of families against the company that had collected large sums of money, without honoring its commitments.
The man was placed in detention for having collected large sums of money from nearly 200 civil servants, without being able to satisfy them, reports Al Massae.
Apartments at a price not exceeding 140,000 dirhams per unit. It was against this promise that hundreds of people made advance payments. And for more than ten years, the beneficiaries have not been able to have their apartments. The company has only delivered a few apartments, to the great dismay of several families.
