Real Estate Expo SMAP Immo Sues Moroccan Developer Bab Darna for Fraud

Bab Darna is not done with its troubles, following the extent of the damage from the scam that has victimized both individuals and companies. This time, it is SMAP Immo that has filed a complaint against the company for "fraud and damage suffered".

SMAP Immo also announces the upcoming launch of a digital platform available to victims of these scams, during the 2018 edition of the Paris and Brussels Salon, in order to advise them on the actions to be taken against the incriminated developer.

In a press release received on Tuesday by the MAP, SMAP Immo specifies that it has filed a complaint since January 23 in Casablanca, with the Prosecutor of the King’s Court, for "fraud and serious damage caused to the various stakeholders and participants in the real estate fairs organized for the promotion of the Moroccan real estate sector". To prevent visitors to future real estate fairs from being scammed, SMAP Immo has planned meetings to strengthen protection and awareness measures.

In its press release, the management of SMAP Immo hopes that the "ties woven for 22 years with the community of Moroccans living abroad, foreign investors, real estate professionals and the various institutional and public actors and stakeholders, will withstand the actions and practices of which Bab Darna has been guilty, and will in no way affect the seriousness and professionalism of the vast majority of real estate players and developers in Morocco".

SMAP Immo says it shares the sadness of those who have been defrauded and assures that BAB DARNA has only participated in one edition of SMAP Immo in Paris and Brussels in 2018. It had also provided, in writing, all the required guarantees and certification that all the projects exhibited were authorized and that the company was able to present the execution plans.
