Moroccan Expats Urge Boycott of Overseas Real Estate Fairs Amid Fraud Concerns

Moroccans residing abroad have called for a boycott of SMAP IMMO and all real estate fairs abroad, in response to the Bab Darna scandal, which has caused unprecedented damage.
Outraged by the proliferation of cases of fraud and land spoliation, many MREs have demanded greater protection from the Moroccan authorities.
On social networks, these calls for a boycott are multiplying: "Let’s boycott the Smap Immo and other real estate fairs. We want guarantees from the government for real protection of Moroccan victims of land spoliation and other injustices," reads one of the boycott posters. Another poster points out that a properly organized and followed boycott would be a strong and devastating response for the land spoliation mafias and all those who support them.
The MREs believe that the boycott would be the best pressure on the competent authorities who clearly endorse the spoliation law 39-08. These various calls follow the Bab Darna scandal, which has caused unprecedented damage, estimated at 80 MDH with the banks, according to Abdellatif Jouahri, and involving 800 victims who are demanding their money back.
According to the organizers, the boycott of the fairs is explained by the fact that these same promoters participate in the fairs, in full view of everyone, and mainly, of the representatives of the ministries and professionals.
