Moroccan Expats Seek Royal Intervention in Bab Darna Real Estate Scandal

Members of the Moroccan community abroad, victims of the Bab Darna affair, have called on the Moroccan diplomatic representation in France to organize a meeting with King Mohammed VI, in a last-ditch attempt to recover their money.
During a meeting with members of the Moroccan embassy in Paris, the victims insisted on verifying, upstream, the information relating to the exhibitors of real estate fairs intended for the Moroccan community abroad.
Several demonstrations have been organized by the 800 victims of the Bab Darna company, including 200 MREs, in particular in front of the Moroccan parliament, in the hope of recovering the millions of dirhams lost in this case.
To recall, the president of the Bab Darna group, Mohamed El Wardi, at the origin of the largest real estate scandal in Morocco, was arrested at the Mohammed V airport as he was about to leave the national territory. Accused of fraud, financial crimes and breach of trust, the businessman is involved in the embezzlement of more than 400 million dirhams.
