Real Estate Developer and Associates Face Trial in Marrakech Housing Scam

The trial of the real estate developer, responsible for the "Bassatine Al-Waha" project in Marrakech, and his two co-defendants, should open in the coming days. The judge of the court of first instance of the ochre city, in charge of the case, has just completed his investigation.
The promoter of the "Bassatine Al-Waha" low-cost housing project, as well as his two co-defendants, had been placed in pre-trial detention in the local "l’oudaya" prison, on the orders of the investigating judge who was to start his investigation sessions on November 13 last.
The Marrakech public prosecutor’s office had issued an arrest warrant against the main suspect and the people involved in this case, following the filing of several complaints by victims, denouncing a delay of more than five years in the delivery of their apartments, as well as fraud and manipulation of the names of the companies owning and supervising the project.
The meetings held between the victims, representatives of the local authorities and the "BZIOUI IMMO" company in charge of the project, did not make it possible to find an amicable solution, the managers of the company, citing technical and administrative difficulties, having refused to set a definitive date for the delivery of the apartments.
The victims, for their part, are demanding their rights and the reimbursement of their financial advances.
