Moroccan Expats Seek Royal Intervention in Marrakech Real Estate Scandal

Many Moroccans and Moroccans residing abroad have been waiting for years to take possession of their apartments, the construction of which was entrusted to the promoter of the real estate project "El Ghali". They are requesting the intervention of King Mohammed VI.
In a statement to Rue20, the persons concerned are asking King Mohammed VI to open an investigation into this case and to instruct the competent services of the prefecture of Marrakech and the Ministry of Territorial Planning, Urbanism, Housing and City Policy to follow up on their complaints filed with the judicial authorities.
These Moroccans and Moroccans residing abroad accuse the company Faali Lil Omrane and the promoter of the "El Ghali" housing project of using maneuvers to delay the delivery of their apartments for years, stressing that this situation is causing them significant moral and financial harm. They said they each paid the promoter more than 700,000 dirhams for these apartments.
But the latter, being in bad faith, has sold the same apartment to several people. Since he pocketed the amounts, he has been unreachable and has disappeared, abandoning the construction work on the apartments. A situation that has aroused the anger of the victims who have demonstrated several times to demand their property. Without success.
It should be noted that the promoter acquired plots from the Faali Lil Omrane company at preferential prices in order to build these economic and social housing units intended for low-income people. Some 600 people are victims of this real estate fraud.
