The violence of the attack shocked neighborhood residents, who were awakened by bursts from the automatic weapon. According to initial reports from the newspaper, around thirty projectiles were fired, with several impacts found at the crime scene, including on a bakery window and a trash bin door. No residents were injured. An investigation for "murder by organized crime" was opened and assigned to the Criminal Brigade.

The victim, originally from Sevran, had a criminal record, particularly for drug trafficking offenses. He is mainly described by a police source as "a close associate of the Maes clan." The rapper, also from Sevran, has been imprisoned in Morocco since last November. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison for having commissioned an assassination on Moroccan soil.

At this stage, investigators remain cautious about the exact motives for this execution. But the case comes in a context of repeated settling of scores in Sevran, where a deadly rivalry has opposed Maes’ circle to the rival Beaudottes clan for several years. This new case could join the investigations already being followed by the specialized organized crime court, as the shadow of this gang war continues to weigh on the city.
