Rennes: a 25-year-old Moroccan executed in a parking lot

The alert was given by a local resident shortly before 1 a.m. Awakened by gunshots, she reported the presence of a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot on Allée de Lucerne to the emergency services. Upon arrival, the police faced a methodical execution: the car windows had exploded under the gunfire and the man inside had multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was identified by his relatives as a 25-year-old Moroccan national. The violence of the attack leaves little doubt about the intentions of the shooters. The forensic police technicians found about ten cartridge cases around the wreckage, confirming the relentlessness of the assailants.

The Rennes public prosecutor’s office immediately qualified the facts as aggravated murder. The investigation was entrusted to the Division of Organized and Specialized Crime (DCOS), a choice that suggests the trail of a settling of scores. Investigators are now trying to retrace the journey of this young man to understand the reasons for this assassination in the middle of the street.
