The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced Wednesday evening that the holy month of Ramadan will officially begin in Morocco on Thursday, February 19, 2026. The decision follows the sighting of the lunar crescent across the Kingdom.
In keeping with tradition, the ministry observed the new moon after the Al Maghrib prayer this Wednesday, 29 Sha’ban 1447 AH (February 18, 2026). In its official statement, the religious authority confirmed that “the sighting having been verified, the beginning of the fasting month is officially established.” Accordingly, the first day of Ramadan 1447 will indeed be Thursday, February 19.
