Ramadan 2026 in France: The Great Mosque of Paris announces the date of the Night of Doubt
The religious commission of the Great Mosque of Paris will meet on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 6 pm (29 Sha’aban 1447/H) to determine the start date of the month of Ramadan in France.
The decision of the commission will be based on the combination of visual observation of the new moon and astronomical calculations. This traditional procedure aims to ensure a unified announcement for the Muslim community in the country, as stated in a press release.
While awaiting this result, the faithful are invited to intensify their acts of worship during the month of Sha’aban. The official date of the beginning of the fast will be communicated by the Great Mosque of Paris immediately after the conclusion of this meeting.
