Rabat Restricts Entry from Casablanca Amid Surge in COVID-19 Cases

Casablancans are prohibited from entering certain neighborhoods of Rabat, even with the exceptional travel authorization. This is the decision of the local authorities, in an attempt to protect themselves against the explosion of Covid-19 infections that many Casablanca neighborhoods are experiencing.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Casablanca-Settat region has recorded the highest infection rate. In the last 24 hours, the number of infected people is 3,508, including 1,287 for the Casablanca region alone.
It is therefore in an attempt to protect the population that the authorities in Rabat would have made this decision, which the Casablancans have difficulty assimilating. According to L’Économiste: "the testimonies of motorists reported by the newspaper thus mention a tightening of travel controls between the two cities".
