Casablanca Rolls Out 450 New Buses to Boost Urban Transport Network

The green light was given this Friday, February 12 in Casablanca for the commissioning of the new buses for the benefit of the Casablancans. 450 out of 700 will be put into service as of Monday.

These 700 new buses were acquired thanks to the State through the Support Fund for Urban and Interurban Transport Reforms (FART), the delegatee (Société Alsa) and through contributions from the Casablanca-Settat region and the city of Casablanca, for a total investment of 1.4 billion DH. The objective is to increase the current transport offer and the servicing of the territories of the ECI, "Al Baida" and mainly the areas with a great need for transport, especially those benefiting from the slum eradication program and the rehousing program for inhabitants of buildings threatening to collapse.

The municipalities and neighborhoods taken into account, for the first time, are now connected to Casablanca by radial lines, or to Nouaceur, Mediouna and Mohammedia, by transversal lines, thanks to the addition of 10 additional lines. These are mainly the municipalities of Sidi Moussa Ben Ali, Sidi Moussa Ben Majdoub, Chellalate, Ben Yakhlef (prefecture of Mohammadia), Sidi Hajjaj, Tit Mellil and Majattia Ouled Taleb (province of Mediouna), Ville Ennasr/Ouled Saleh, Khyayta/Ouled Azzouz, Zaouia and the industrial zone of Nouaceur (province of Nouaceur) and the neighborhoods of Salama 1 and 2 and the industrial zone of Sidi Bernoussi in the city of Casablanca. This fleet will gradually expand to reach 700 new buses by the end of 2021.
