Casablanca to Launch 400 New Buses by End of February, Expanding Public Transit Network

The new brand new buses of the Alsa company will be deployed "at the latest by the end of February next", according to the promise made by the president of the Intercommunal Cooperation Establishment (ECI) "Al Baida", Saïd Rafik.
700 buses are expected but the bus fleet renewal operation will have to start with 400 buses, knowing that the network coverage will increase from 47 to 57 lines at the level of the 18 municipalities grouped within the ECI. "We are working to ensure that the new buses are put into circulation at the latest at the end of February, or even before if possible," said Saïd Rafik, president of the rural commune of Béni Yakhlef (prefecture of Mohammedia), to the MAP.
The Alsa company signed a 10-year contract in October 2019, which stipulates the circulation, in 2021, of a permanent fleet of 700 new buses, jointly financed by the two parties. In April 2020, it began deploying a temporary fleet of used buses and the complete withdrawal of the old ones, which were in a dilapidated state, the same source specifies.
