Rabat Police Command Center 1400 Cameras Real-Time Surveillance

Rabat’s police force is scaling up urban surveillance. A new 2.0 command and coordination center was put into service on Monday, July 13, ten years after the opening of the first facility of its kind in the capital.

The system is now connected to more than 1,400 high-definition cameras installed throughout the metropolitan area, as well as to the emergency number 19 and the national security data networks, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN.

The center allows real-time monitoring of city images, traffic surveillance, coordination of field interventions, and deployment of police-rescue units when emergency calls require it.

The 19 connected to the new center

Calls to 19 are received 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They are recorded in real time, and initial information is immediately entered into a computerized database before being transmitted to police-rescue teams deployed on public roads.

The building houses a multipurpose room, a mission dispatch station, a data center, and a crisis management unit. Information from cameras, communications, and police databases is centralized there to accelerate decision-making.

The crisis unit can handle exceptional situations without delay. It is connected to security databases, wired and mobile networks, and has permanent availability for emergency management.
