Rabat Launches 100 Million Dirham AI-Powered Surveillance Network to Boost Safety and Traffic Flow

Intelligent surveillance cameras have been installed in Rabat, in order to strengthen public safety and organize traffic.

The installation work of the first intelligent surveillance cameras has officially started in Rabat. This work is part of a large-scale project aimed at strengthening public safety and organizing traffic, through the use of advanced technologies including artificial intelligence, facial recognition and license plate reading.

In total, 4,000 high-definition cameras will be installed by the end of 2025 in the various streets and neighborhoods of the city as part of the project. The overall cost is estimated at 100 million dirhams. In addition to the installation of intelligent cameras, the project also includes the development of command and data analysis centers, in order to facilitate the immediate response to security incidents, it is specified.

Two companies have won the contract. On the one hand, Finatech Group, headquartered in Casablanca, is responsible for the development of the technical infrastructure, for an amount of 34.8 million dirhams, and Alomra Group International, specialized in security and defense solutions, on the other. The latter will supervise the aspect related to the cameras, for an amount of 73.8 million dirhams.

The Rabat Region Development Company is overseeing the project. According to this company, the new system will be used by the police services to ensure traffic fluidity and public safety.
