Rabat Launches Major Infrastructure Projects for 2025 and 2030 Soccer Events

In view of hosting the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) and co-organizing the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal, several construction sites will be opened in Rabat in accordance with a letter dated January 20, 2025 from the Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, Mohamed Yacoubi.

Rabat is preparing for CAN 2025 and the 2030 World Cup. The council will hold an extraordinary session on Wednesday morning, during which decisions on planning and road widening, as well as on connecting neighborhoods, will be made, with the aim of improving traffic in the different areas of the city. One of the most important projects is the widening of Mohammed VI Avenue in the Souissi and Youssoufia districts. The creation of a road connecting Al Majazir Street (the slaughterhouses) to Moulay Youssef Hospital in Hassan, the connection of Al Hourriya (Freedom) Avenue to Mohammed Ben Abdallah Avenue, as well as the connection between Chbanat and Al Mostaqbal in the Yaacoub Al Mansour district will be planned.

The municipality will consider the construction of a new road connecting Al Hourriya Avenue to Moulay Youssef Hospital Avenue in the Hassan district, as well as a road between Chbanat Avenue and Al Mostaqbal Avenue in the Yaacoub Al Mansour district. Al Fath Avenue will also be widened and connected to Al Fadila Avenue in this same district. It is also planned to establish a connection between Al Ikhlas Street and Arrahma as well as with Hassan II Avenue. A road will be built in the Agdal district, to connect Ibn Rochd Avenue to Haj Ahmed Cherkaoui Avenue. Another road will connect Ibn Sina Avenue to Al Ghafiqi Avenue, near the Rabat Agdal station, while another road will connect Abdelkrim El Khatib Avenue to Hassan II Avenue, still in the same district.

Other possible projects: the widening and connection of the Sidi Yahya Road, between the Bab Zaër roundabout and ring road no. 2 in the Youssoufia district, the creation of a road connecting the Oulad Sebaa alley to Akrache Street, the widening of the Oulad Sebaa alley in this same district, and of the Oulad Hassoun alley in the same territory. It will also be planned to widen the Beni Mtir and Hafiane Cherkaoui Avenues, passing through Abder
