Rabat Implements Traffic Restrictions for Futsal Africa Cup of Nations

Part of the city of Rabat will be closed to automobile traffic. The CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations is the reason.
The Rabat municipality has decided to prohibit circulation and passage in the capital on April 11, 13, 15, 19 and 21, 2024, when the city hosts the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, which continues until April 21. The perimeter concerned extends along national road number 1, between the Beni M’Tir interchange and the Rabat - Casablanca highway interchange, for vehicles going from the city of Rabat to the city of Temara in both directions, according to the Al3omk website. Rabat will thus be closed to car traffic on April 11, 13 and 15 from 3 pm to 10 pm, and on April 19 and 21 from 6 pm to 10 pm. Only vehicles and buses going to the "Rabat Voyageurs" bus station are not affected by this decision.
The decision of the Rabat municipality comes into effect from the date of its signing. The local and security authorities are responsible for enforcing it. In case of violation of this decision, offenders are subject to penalties. "Anyone who violates the provisions of this decision is subject to the sanctions provided for by the laws in force," warns the municipal council.
The opening match of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN2024) was given on Thursday. The opening match between Morocco and Angola ended in a victory for the Atlas Lions (5-2). The competition takes place at the Ibn Yassine Hall and the Sports Palace of the Prince Moulay Abdallah Sports Complex in Rabat.
