PSG’s Rising Star Ilyes Housni Eyes Switch to Morocco National Team
The Franco-Moroccan player Ilyes Housni, who recently signed his first professional contract with PSG, is awaiting a call from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) to wear the jersey of the Atlas Lions.
Although he is already playing for the French team, Ilyes Housni is tempted to defend the Moroccan flag. He is just waiting for a call from the FRMF to definitively decide on his sporting nationality. "We are currently awaiting a call from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). Even if my son is currently wearing the jersey of the French team, he loves Morocco and it would be an honor for him to wear the jersey of the Moroccan national football team," said his father Abdellatif Housni in an interview with the Moroccan sports media Al Mountakhab.
The 17-year-old striker recently signed with PSG until 2026. He had joined the Parisian club’s pre-training center in 2017 from Paris FC. He notably scored a sextuple against Reims (9-0) with the U19s in October. Ilyes has also put in good performances in the Youth League, the Champions League for young people. He contributed to PSG’s qualification for the round of 16 by scoring 8 goals.
