Moroccan Football Federation Condemns Racist Incidents at African Championship Opening

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has denounced and firmly condemned the "malicious acts and abject maneuvers" that marred the opening of the 7th edition of the African Nations Championship for local players (CHAN).
These incidents were caused by "provocative and surreal discourse that violated the rules governing the organization of football events" under the aegis of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the FRMF said in a statement.
Expressing its "deep disgust at the racist remarks made by supporters present towards the Moroccan public known for its civility," the FRMF says it rejects these behaviors that are contrary to the principles and values of football.
The Moroccan federation states that it has written to CAF to ask it to assume full responsibility for these flagrant transgressions. It hopes that appropriate measures will be taken to avoid such situations in the future and that sports competitions can take place in a spirit of fair play and mutual respect.
For the FRMF, these malicious incidents and abject maneuvers have tarnished the opening of the 7th edition of the African Nations Championship for local players (CHAN) and have been condemned by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). It calls on CAF to take the necessary measures to avoid such situations in the future and to ensure that sports competitions take place in a spirit of fair play and mutual respect.
