Qatar Targets PSG Prodigy Ilyes Housni Amid Nationality Speculation

While Morocco intends to have him in its squad, the Franco-Moroccan prodigy Ilyes Housni is on loan for a season to Al-Sadd Doha, in Qatar, where he could easily be granted Qatari nationality.
Will Ilyes Housni choose Qatar as his sporting nationality? His transfer to Al-Sadd Doha, on loan, raises questions. According to several specialized accounts on Moroccan football, the PSG striker would have agreed to be part of the project to build a strong national team for the Emirate. He could therefore be granted Qatari nationality. The signing of the 18-year-old player in the Doha club would be the first step. Even though it is planned that he will return to PSG at the end of the season, the change of sporting nationality of the young player is not excluded. If it materialized, Morocco would lose a striker with an atypical profile.

Born on May 14, 2005 in Créteil (Val-de-Marne) to Moroccan parents, Housni has dual Moroccan and French nationality. He is on the radar of Morocco, which wishes to have him in its squad. His father does not rule out the possibility of joining the den of the Atlas Lions. France is also interested in the young player. He made his debut with the French under-17 national team in August 2021. During his participation in the Limoges tournament with the French under-18 team, he scored a goal against Scotland and Poland. With the under-18s, he made an impression in the match against Germany on March 24, 2023, scoring a brace. The match ended in a French victory (4-3 final score).
Housni is under contract with PSG until 2026. He had joined the Parisian training center in 2017 from Paris FC. He notably scored a sextuple against Reims (9-0) with the U19s in October. Ilyes has also put in good performances in the Youth League, the Champions League for young people. He contributed to PSG’s qualification for the round of 16 by scoring 8 goals.
