PSG Open to Offers for Star Defender Achraf Hakimi Amid Premier League Interest

Things seem to be taking shape for the transfer of Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi this summer. PSG would consider "selling" him if an interesting offer is made.

"There are rumors about Achraf Hakimi’s future at PSG. Clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea have been mentioned..." said Jonathan Johnson in his column for CaughtOffside, adding that the Parisian club is planning a major overhaul and could part ways with the Moroccan international. "As for the player and his role in the PSG team for what he brings on the pitch, the Moroccan international would certainly not be at the top of the list of players the club is looking to get rid of as part of a squad overhaul this summer. But we shouldn’t forget that there aren’t many other players in the current PSG squad who could command as high a transfer fee as Hakimi, especially if he were to join a Premier League club. Gianluigi Donnarumma is probably the only other one who would attract a substantial offer, but he hasn’t had the best of seasons," he analyzes.

According to the journalist, if a serious offer was made for the Moroccan right-back, PSG should consider it. The Parisian club "needs to replenish its coffers a bit and comply with financial fair play, and Messi’s likely departure will help with that, but it means Hakimi is one of those who could be the subject of an offer similar to what PSG paid Inter to get him." He believes the Parisian club should also take into account the friendship between the 24-year-old player and his teammate and PSG leader Kylian Mbappé if it has to let the Moroccan international leave this summer.

Currently, two English clubs want to snatch up Hakimi. Chelsea, who had shown interest in him before his transfer to PSG, is coming back. "PSG won the race for him in 2021, but it’s possible Chelsea will come back, even though it’s hard to imagine he (Achraf) would agree to join a club not only not playing in the Champions League, but possibly not even in Europe at all next season." The eventual signing of the Moroccan right-back will not be easy for the English club. It will have to face competition. Manchester United also wants to secure the services of the Moroccan international.
