Protesters in Morocco Rally Against Arab-Israeli Normalization Deals

At the call of Moroccan associations, a few hundred protesters, the Palestinian flag in hand, protested on Friday in Rabat against the "traitor countries" and "their American and Zionist allies" by demanding the "liberation of Palestine".
Left-wing community activists and Islamist sympathizers, gathered in the center of the capital, expressed their support for the Palestinian people, following the signing by Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates of normalization agreements with Israel, under the aegis of US President Donald Trump.
"We demand the criminalization of any normalization with the Hebrew state," could be heard from the crowd.
"We also want to tell the Moroccan state that the people will never accept to be involved in the Zionist and American plans and that they will revolt if this were to happen," said Taïb Madmad, a member of the Moroccan Association of Human Rights (AMDH) present at the demonstration, to AFP.
Although not having official relations with Israel, Morocco has rather unofficial relations with the Hebrew state, given the importance of the Jewish community of Moroccan origin estimated at around 800,000.
