Pro-Polisario Graffiti Sparks Security Alert in Tiznit, Morocco
Sunday 10 March 2019, by
On the wall of a college in Arbaa Sahel, in the province of Tiznit, one could (and can no longer) read pro-Polisario graffiti, including a slogan of the separatist Front. The wall has been repainted! And the investigation is ongoing...
Tiznit is not in the southern provinces and yet the word "Polisario" as well as the sentence (in Arabic, of course) "The martyr Moustafa Sayed" have been tagged on the walls of a college in the region, according to some media sources. The security services in the region would be on alert since then.
This is happening in the rural community of Arbaa Sahel, dependent on the province of Tiznit, itself in the Souss-Massa region. But then, what is it doing there?
A clue is revealed to us by the same source. It seems that the local population and some nomads currently in the region are still in conflict.
The latter would illegally settle on grazing land (which does not belong to them) and thus destroy the crops, leaving the landowners without means of subsistence.
In any case, the authorities have ordered an investigation to accurately identify the culprits, and the college wall has of course been repainted. As if nothing had happened...
