Tribal Tensions Flare Near Agadir Airport as Authorities Intervene in Nomadic Dispute

While there were reports of clashes between local populations and Sahrawi nomads in the Souss-Massa region, these are now clashes between two different Sahrawi nomadic tribes, near Agadir airport. The bloodbath was narrowly avoided.
Last Saturday, two different Sahrawi nomadic tribes were about to violently settle their scores (the details of which are unknown for the moment) near Agadir airport. This took place in the Admin forest. The authorities intervened to put an end to the existing dissensions.
Insults and provocations, according to some sources, were flying from all sides. And the members of these tribes seriously wanted to come to blows, if it were not for the presence of the gendarmerie and the Auxiliary Forces.
The ardor would have been calmed by the governor of the Inzegane-Aït Melloul prefecture, Ismail Abolhokouk. He would have arbitrated a dialogue between the leaders of the two tribes. A return to calm was immediately observed.
Let us recall that in the same region there reigns a certain climate of insecurity due to the constant conflicts between the local populations and the Sahrawi nomadic shepherds, the source of which is the installation of the tribes on grazing lands that do not belong to them, which destroys the crops. This insecurity even prevented students from going to their schools.
