Pro-Palestinian Rally in Brussels Turns Violent: Demonstrator Stabbed, Claims Targeted Attack

Attacked with a knife during the pro-Palestinian demonstration organized on Sunday in Brussels, Anas S., 22, claims from his hospital bed that he knows the instigator of this attack.

Anas was stabbed after he participated on Sunday, in the Place du Samedi in Brussels, in the demonstration in support of the Palestinian people, and especially his family (a sister, five brothers and sixteen nieces and nephews, according to humanitarian organizations) who remained in Gaza. A photo of him, lying on a hospital bed, surrounded by monitors, IV drips and cables, circulated on social networks, a few hours after the attack.

All started from a dispute in the middle of the street between Anas and a 21-year-old Palestinian, according to sources at 7sur7. This altercation between the two protagonists who "know each other", according to the Brussels public prosecutor’s office, quickly turned into a brawl and led to the knife attack on Anas. The young man, seriously injured, was rushed to the hospital after first aid. His vital prognosis was engaged, but he is now out of danger. He will have to spend a few more days in intensive care.

The 21-year-old Palestinian was arrested and detained. The public prosecutor’s office opened an investigation for attempted murder. For his part, Anas is convinced that the attack was targeted. In a message on his social networks, he claims to know the instigator of the aggression. "I know who gave the order. My injury is proof of betrayal. I will tell the truth without fear or restraint. The deception will come to light," he promises.
