Pro-Israeli Group Files FIFA Complaint Over Moroccan Team’s Palestinian Flag Display at World Cup

The relaunch by the Atlas Lions of the Palestinian cause at the 2022 Qatar World Cup is not to the liking of the pro-Israeli group UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI). The latter has complained about the Moroccan team to FIFA.
Moroccan players have several times celebrated their victories at the 2022 World Cup by waving both Palestinian and Moroccan flags. Other Arab countries have joined the relaunch of the Palestinian cause in Qatar. This has annoyed UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI), which has expressed its displeasure, reports The Middle East Monitor.
The London-based organization has thus written to the chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, Jorge Palacio, accusing Morocco of having violated the rules of the highest governing body of football, in particular Article 11.2 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, which states that any person who uses "a sporting event for non-sporting manifestations" may be subject to disciplinary measures, reports The Jewish Chronicle. It has also asked Palacio to open an immediate investigation.
In response to UKLFI’s complaint, FIFA has taken provisional measures to prevent any repetition of such violations during Wednesday’s semi-final and Saturday’s third-place playoff final.
