MP Fatima Tamni (Federation of the Democratic Left) has strongly criticized Morocco’s tourism policy.
During the government question session, she denounced the exorbitant cost of some hotels in Morocco, “twice as expensive” as comparable establishments in Madrid. A drag on the kingdom’s tourism appeal, which has stagnated in 82nd place in the global ranking, behind countries “beset by wars and conflicts.”

For the MP, tourism is not limited to “figures” and “profits.” It must also benefit the local population and reflect a positive image of the country. A call to overhaul Morocco’s tourism strategy?
