Morocco Overtakes Egypt as Africa’s Top Tourist Destination

Morocco has stolen the limelight from Egypt in 2024, becoming the number one tourist destination in Africa.
Egypt, which had dominated the sector for many years, welcomed around 15.7 million tourists, according to statements by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reported by the Ecofin agency.
For its part, Morocco crossed the 15.9 million foreign visitor mark as early as the end of November. This success, which propels the Kingdom to the top of the continental ranking, should be confirmed with the figures for December, a month traditionally marking a peak in tourist activity. Professionals in the sector anticipate a total number of visitors reaching, or even exceeding, 16 million by the end of the year.
This performance testifies to the effectiveness of Morocco’s tourism policy, which has been able to strengthen the country’s attractiveness and establish its reputation internationally.
