Power Struggle Erupts in Moroccan Government as Cabinet Appointments Stall

Members of ministerial cabinets in Morocco are tearing each other apart over prerogatives. The delay in the appointment of new secretaries general is at the origin of this conflict.
A bad atmosphere prevails within the ministerial cabinets due to the delay observed in the appointment of new secretaries general, particularly due to the condition imposing at least 20 years of experience for any person proposed for such a position. Until now, several ministries are struggling to replace the former secretaries general of the Party of Justice and Development (PJD) who were dismissed after the arrival to power of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) of Aziz Akhannouch.
In the ministries of Commerce and Industry, that of Solidarity, Social Inclusion and the Family, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Economy and Finance or the Department of Agriculture, several directors complain about the members of the ministers’ cabinets who exceed their prerogatives, reports the Arabic-language daily Assabah. Some of them have resigned from their position to express their discontent.
