Police Thwart Smuggling of 2,400 Goldfinches to Algeria in Oujda Raid

Four individuals, including an Algerian, were arrested on Wednesday evening by the Oujda police. They would be involved in a case of detention and trafficking of birds.
It was a search carried out by the police elements in a house located in a neighborhood of Oujda, which allowed the seizure of 2,400 goldfinches caged in conditions that do not meet the standards in force.
The four suspects wanted to secretly and illegally pass these goldfinches on to Algeria. Pending to know the fate reserved for them, the defendants are the subject of an investigation conducted by the judicial police under the control of the competent prosecutor’s office. As for the 2,400 goldfinches, they were entrusted to the services of the High Commission for Water, Forests and the Fight against Desertification.
