Police Raid Illegal Gambling Ring in Tangier, Morocco; 20 Arrested

Twenty individuals, including three women (one European), were arrested on Sunday by elements of the Tangier police prefecture. They are accused of violating the state of health emergency and participating in the activities of a network that managed an unauthorized gambling hall.
These arrests took place in the Malabata neighborhood, specifically in two apartments converted by their owners into gambling spaces. According to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the elements of the Tangier police prefecture, who had precise information, went to the premises and immediately arrested the owners of these apartments, the managers and several clients.
A search of the premises allowed the seizure of tables and equipment used in these games, as well as sums of money suspected of coming from this activity, it is noted.
The same DGSN press release indicates that the Tangier police prefecture elements had carried out surveillance operations based on information provided by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST). The defendants are the subject of a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office in order to elucidate this case, the source notes.
