PJD Leader Urges Voluntary Donations as Party Faces Financial Strain After Election Loss

At the national council held last Saturday in Bouznika, Abdelilah Benkirane, Secretary General of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), called on members to voluntarily contribute to the financing of the party. Since the PJD’s crushing defeat in the last legislative elections, there has been a deterioration of the resources of the political formation.
While some party members have proposed that these contributions be "mandatory" or based on members’ income statements, the PJD boss says he has "refused" these options, reports Alyaoum24. He assures that he is making a monthly financial contribution of 5,000 DH to the party. Others have also followed suit: 2,500 DH for Mustapha El Khalifi, 10,000 DH for a third member and 1,000 DH for a fourth member.
"This is what I know of the members who have decided to contribute financially while I await the others," he said, adding that these financial contributions will have to continue until the holding of the party’s ordinary congress, the date of which remains to be determined, the extraordinary congress of the party having rejected the holding of the ordinary congress within a year.
