In a statement, the diplomatic representation said that Leslie Baja, an experienced diplomat, presented his credentials to King Mohammed VI during a ceremony to receive foreign ambassadors by the sovereign, held at the royal palace in Rabat on January 17.

On this occasion, the Philippine diplomat expressed the best wishes of President Rodrigo Duterte and his hope for a new era in bilateral relations between Morocco and the Republic of the Philippines. Relations established since April 10, 1975. According to Leslie Baja, the reopening of the Philippines embassy is timely. Manila is preparing to commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations with Rabat in 2025. In total, nearly 4,600 Filipinos reside in Morocco, mainly working in the domestic, beauty and wellness sectors.

The Philippine diplomat also announced that several agreements are being signed between the two countries in various fields, including air services, cooperation between press agencies and diplomatic academies, and political consultations.
