Peace Corps Volunteer Falls Victim to Moroccan Hacker’s Sextortion Scheme
An American citizen, a volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps Agency, was the victim of sextortion by a Moroccan hacker who managed to hack her mobile phone.
The Moroccan hacker threatened the young woman to publish her photos and personal information on social networks if she refused to send him money.
Under pressure, she decided to file a complaint with the Judicial Police of Chichaoua, for harassment and hacking of personal data. The investigation led to his arrest in Kenitra, after identifying his phone numbers and determining his location.
The hacker, who admitted the facts against him before the Public Prosecutor’s Office, was placed in the local prison of Oudayas, pending his appearance before the Criminal Court on charges of insults, harassment, defamation and invasion of individual privacy.
