Morocco’s Passport Power Surges: Outpaces North African Neighbors in Global Ranking

Morocco ranks 70th in the world in the Henley Passport Index for the year 2025. According to the report, this ranking means that the Moroccan passport allows its holders to travel to 73 destinations without the need for a visa in advance, whether by exemption or by obtaining one upon arrival.

At the global level, the index is dominated by Singapore, whose passport opens the doors to 193 destinations. The podium is completed by South Korea and Japan. At the other end of the ranking, Afghanistan occupies the last place (106th), with visa-free access to only 24 countries.

In the North African region, Morocco is number one. It surpasses Mauritania (85th) and Algeria (86th), and is not far from Tunisia (75th). Libya and Egypt rank 99th and 91st respectively.

According to the report, Morocco’s position reflects its ambition in terms of diplomatic openness. However, cited experts believe that to strengthen the power of the passport, the country will have to expand its network of visa exemption agreements, particularly with countries in Asia and Latin America, while consolidating trust with the European Union.
