Morocco’s Passport Soars to 10-Year High in Global Mobility Rankings

The Moroccan passport has risen to 67th place globally in the latest Henley Passport Index, its best ranking in ten years.
The Moroccan passport has moved from 71st place last year to 67th this year, an increase of four places. This is Morocco’s best performance since 2006, when its passport was ranked 66th globally. The Moroccan passport allows Moroccan citizens to access 73 destinations worldwide without a visa.
At the Maghreb level, Morocco occupies the first place, ahead of Tunisia (71st place), Mauritania (79th), Algeria (81st), Egypt (85th) and Libya (95th). In the Arab world, the United Arab Emirates is ranked 8th globally in terms of passport mobility, with visa-free access to 184 countries. Qatar (47th), Kuwait (50th), Saudi Arabia (54th) and Bahrain (55th) complete the top five Arab countries.
Singapore dominates this global ranking, with a passport providing visa-free access to 193 destinations. Japan and South Korea are in second place with 190 destinations each. Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Spain are all in third place, with access to 189 destinations. Yemen, Somalia and Pakistan (96th), Iraq (97th), Syria (98th) and Afghanistan (99th) close the list.
The United Kingdom and the United States are respectively in 6th and 10th place in this new ranking which, according to Christian H. Kaelin, creator of the Passport Index concept, reveals "an increasingly competitive landscape in terms of global mobility". Access "must be earned - and maintained - through active and strategic diplomacy," he stressed.
The Henley Passport Index was based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), updated in real time. The average number of visa-free destinations has increased from 58 in 2006 to 109 in 2025. Over these ten years, more than 80 passports have gained at least 10 places.
