Morocco’s Golden Triangle: Marrakech, Agadir, and Tangier Dominate French Summer Travel Trends in 2025

Morocco confirms its status as a top destination for French vacationers this summer of 2025. Far from resting on a single flagship, the kingdom places three of its cities in the top 10 most sought-after international destinations.
Leading the pack, the indispensable Marrakech continues to reign supreme. For the third consecutive year, the ochre city has established itself as the favorite destination of the French abroad. Its popularity shows no signs of waning, with a 14% increase in searches in July and 21% in August compared to 2024, according to data from the Booking platform. Its success is based on solid fundamentals: an exceptional climate, a guaranteed cultural immersion between the souks and the palaces, and a varied tourist offer.
But Moroccan success is not limited to its famous tourist capital. Two other coastal cities are also making their mark: Agadir and Tangier. Both have firmly established themselves in the ranking of the ten most popular destinations for the months of July and August. Their progress is remarkable, with Tangier showing a 20% increase in searches in July and 37% in August, while Agadir is not to be outdone with respective increases of 13% and 36%. This leading trio demonstrates Morocco’s ability to seduce well beyond its imperial jewel.
This Moroccan performance is part of a broader trend favoring the sunny destinations of the Mediterranean basin, where Spain also remains highly competitive. In this context, the most spectacular breakthrough is to be credited to Hurghada, in Egypt, whose popularity has soared by 112% in July.
On the domestic travel front, a similar phenomenon is observed. Despite the appeal of coastal regions like Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Occitanie, it is Paris that remains the most sought-after destination in the country, showing sustained growth. The success of the Marrakech-Agadir-Tangier trio well illustrates the trend of this summer of 2025: a quest for sun, culture, and change of scenery that Morocco seems to fulfill wonderfully.
