Outcry in Tangier as Stray Dog Culling Continues Despite Ban

The "Young Greens Movement" calls on the local authorities of Tangier to end the culling of stray dogs in the city and to take the necessary measures to protect these animals.
The movement reiterated its call after the culling of more than 10 stray dogs in the Al-Hassani neighborhood of Tangier. Recently, the city council approved a petition from the movement calling for an end to the culling of stray dogs and the adoption of alternative measures.
"The culling of dogs constitutes a flagrant violation of the principles of democracy, transforming the municipality into an entity making fictitious decisions, and undermining the credibility of our institutions and the will of our citizens," the movement denounced in a press release, calling for "respect for the council’s decision and the taking of concrete measures to stop these inhumane massacres."
The movement also called for the destruction of all weapons or toxic substances used to kill the dogs, inviting all civil society organizations to carry on this fight until the effective cessation of the culling of stray dogs in the city.
