Orphaned Children in Casablanca Attempt Bridge Suicide in Cry for Help

The city of Casablanca narrowly avoided a case of suicide on Friday, November 29. Indeed, about ten orphaned children, former residents of the Islamic orphanage in Ain Chock, in despair, tried to throw themselves from the top of the Sidi Maârouf bridge.

The website Barlamane.com reporting the information mentions "Young orphans and underprivileged children living in unsustainable social conditions".

According to the sources of this media, they were about ten children who had gathered on the Sidi Maârouf bridge, overlooking the urban highway in the economic capital, with the intention of throwing themselves into the void. This, they think, would end the life of misery in which they are immersed.

Immediately alerted, the local authorities went to the scene. For long minutes, they will try to bring these young people back to their senses, dissuading them from committing the irreparable.

At the beginning of the year, the Casablanca authorities had executed a court decision ordering the evacuation of 57 people living in the institute. Subsequently, the establishment was forced to close its doors. At the time, the same source points out, the residents of the Islamic charitable organization Ain Chock had demonstrated against such a decision.
