Online Livestock Sales Offer Affordable Options for Eid al-Adha Celebrations

Far from the eyes of intermediaries, some breeders have chosen to sell their livestock on social networks and e-commerce sites. This initiative makes it possible to avoid speculation and to offer prices within the reach of the consumer.
Eid al-Adha is an opportunity for many intermediaries to impose their law and staggering prices on consumers. Proxy selling is one of these practices that leads, every year, to overbidding and an incomprehensible increase in the market price.
Thanks to direct sales, livestock prices have been stabilized and, above all, significantly reduced. The main shopping areas on the outskirts of Casablanca offer reasonable prices, ranging from 2,000 to 3,500 dirhams. Discounts are even granted to on-site customers.
According to the statements of a breeder, "some breeders have started using electronic portals to be able to reach the final customer, far from any speculation imposed by the intermediaries, and which benefits neither the consumer nor the breeder".
He adds: "We are exposing our goods at prices lower than the market price. It is certain that they will remain below the tariffs imposed by the intermediaries, especially during the week preceding Eid".
