Chicken Prices Soar in Morocco After Eid al-Adha, Breeders Demand Action

The soaring price of chicken in the aftermath of Eid al-Adha is worrying consumers as well as breeders. The latter feel shortchanged and are calling on the competent authorities to safeguard their interests.
The dizzying rise in the price of chicken during the post-Eid al-Adha period is worrying, reports Le360.ma. This unexpected surge surprises the breeders who only benefit from 9.5 to 10 dirhams of the 17 that the chicken costs on the market.
This indescribable situation for the breeders is caused by the dysfunctions plaguing the sector. The only ones who consider themselves happy are the intermediaries and the businesses which, according to the same source, benefit from very high margins by selling the chicken more expensive to the final consumers.
Therefore, the poultry professionals call for more control by the competent authorities to safeguard their interests.
