Offensive festival of Morocco against Gabon

The Moroccan team once again demonstrated its striking power by largely defeating Gabon (5-1) during the fifth round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Despite the early opening of the scoring by the Panthers through Denis Bouanga in the 4th minute, which surprised the Atlas Lions, the latter did not take long to react. Stung, the men of Walid Regragui regained control of the game and multiplied the offensives. Jamal Harkass sounded the revolt by equalizing with a header in the 17th minute, restoring confidence to his teammates. In the wake, Brahim Diaz, the real man of the match, scored a brace in the space of three minutes (20th, 23rd), putting Morocco on the royal road.

On returning from the locker room, the Gabonese, trailing by two goals, tried to get back into the game. But the Moroccan defense, well organized around Nayef Aguerd, and an imperial Yassine Bounou in the cages, thwarted the opposing attempts. As for the Atlas Lions, they continued to be dangerous on the counterattack. Youssef En-Nesyri increased the lead in the 81st minute before Ismael Saibari completed the Moroccan success at the end of the game with a goal of anthological.

With this resounding victory, Morocco consolidates its first place in Group B with 15 points and a flawless record. Already qualified for the CAN as host country, the Atlas Lions display an impressive confidence and serenity a few months before the start of the competition. Gabon, despite this defeat, retains second place with 7 points and will also be present at the 2025 CAN. The two teams will meet again for a final confrontation during the sixth and final round of the qualifiers.
