Morocco Dominates Central African Republic 5-0 in Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier

The Moroccan national football team confirmed its dominance by winning convincingly against the Central African Republic (5-0) in the third round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Saturday, at the Oujda Stadium.
From the start of the match, the Atlas Lions, led by a Walid Regragui who had started Youssef Belammari and Jamal Harkass for their debuts with the national team, took control of the game. Abdessamad Ezzalzouli quickly found the opening (18th minute) and gave his side the advantage. The Central African Republic, which had until then retreated into defense, then tried to react. But despite some counter-attacks, the Central Africans failed to worry Yassine Bounou, who had to give way to Munir El Kajoui in the 32nd minute due to an injury.
Far from being destabilized, the Moroccans continued to push and Azzedine Ounahi doubled the lead with a long-range shot (38th). In the wake, Achraf Hakimi (45th) then Azzedine Ounahi, author of a brace (45th+2), increased the score before the break.
Upon returning from the locker room, the scenario was repeated. The Atlas Lions dominated the proceedings and Sofiane Rahimi converted a penalty (70th) to further increase the score. Despite this large lead, the Moroccans maintained the pressure until the final whistle, without however managing to score a sixth goal.
Thanks to this clear victory, Morocco, already qualified for the CAN as host country, consolidates its first place in Group B with nine points. The Central African Republic is third with three points. The two teams will meet again on Tuesday, October 15 in Oujda for the return match.
