Subject of several arrest warrants for human trafficking, illegal immigration and various criminal offenses, a repeat offender managed, on Tuesday, to free himself from his handcuffs and get out of the police van that was transferring him to the police station in Salé.

The one who is nicknamed "Ouled Messaoudi" presented himself to a police station to renew his national identity card. He was wrong, as he was arrested following a check-in operation, reports the daily Assabah, adding that he managed to escape during his transfer to the central police station.

The newspaper adds that an investigation will be opened to determine the exact circumstances of the escape, but also the responsibilities. Severe disciplinary sanctions could be taken against the agents who showed a lack of vigilance.

For now, the repeat offender, who is not at his first escape, will be the subject of yet another arrest warrant for the offense of fleeing, notes the same source. The individual had already escaped from the police during a raid at his parents’ home.
