Interpol-Wanted Syrian Arrested in Morocco for Human Trafficking

A network of human trafficking and illegal immigration was uncovered following the arrest at the Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca of a Syrian in possession of a fake passport. The man was already the subject of an international arrest warrant for his alleged membership in a vast network of illegal immigration and human trafficking.
According to the daily Assabah, the Casablanca police managed to apprehend this 27-year-old Syrian, who had long evaded the security services of several countries. He was trying to illegally enter a European country with a stolen Swedish passport. This is how the police, based on data from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), realized that the theft of the passport used had been reported by the Swedish police.
After his arrest, the investigation subsequently showed that the apprehended individual had bought the passport in Turkey. Interpol considers him a dangerous criminal who is part of a human trafficking and illegal immigration network. As he had managed to deceive the vigilance of the security services in many countries, he did not expect to be subjected to a thorough check that would reveal his real identity.
The accused is currently the subject of additional investigation aimed at determining the exact circumstances of this case. This is not the first time that a Syrian has attempted to travel to Turkey from Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca with a fake passport. In 2017, the Casablanca police had arrested a man of Syrian origin, wanted by Interpol because he was considered a former member of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda.
