Nespresso Lyon closure: 178 jobs cut, Morocco gains customer service

The closure of the Lyon hub is benefiting international outsourcing. The coffee brand has decided to entrust a large part of its customer relations to Concentrix, based in Rabat and Meknès. The remaining services will be relocated to Ukraine within a shared structure called "NBS". To justify this decision, management cites the need to "gain simplicity, efficiency and consistency with the brand’s global organization," also planning to consolidate its Paris teams in a single location and reorganize its marketing division, reports Le Monde.

The announcement hit like a bombshell on Tuesday, June 9 for the 173 employees based in Lyon, informed through a simple video conference meeting on Teams. These employees are puzzled by this abrupt decision, especially since they had just been praised for the excellence of their work during the company’s fortieth anniversary. The contrast with the recent signing of an apparently costly contract with singer Dua Lipa raises many questions. Although the company promises "constructive social dialogue" by mentioning end-of-career arrangements, a job protection plan will be triggered to formalize the 178 job cuts planned nationally within a workforce with an average age approaching forty.

This sharp cut nonetheless strikes one of the most profitable branches of the Vevey giant. It is part of a drastic austerity policy led by Philipp Navratil, who took over as CEO of Nestlé in October 2025. The executive has set himself the goal of reducing annual costs by more than one billion euros by 2027.
