KFC France takes the plunge: 24 restaurants become 100% Halal as of January 21!

According to the chain’s management, this strategic choice aims to respond to market developments and the growing demand from a portion of consumers. The brand specifies that this initiative is part of a diversification approach already underway with the launch of fish and vegetarian product ranges.

Although the announcement has sparked political reactions, the deployment remains targeted. It concerns 24 restaurants out of the 404 in the network in France, or less than 6% of the total.

The distribution of the establishments concerned is as follows:

• Grand-Est region: 11 restaurants (including 3 in the Troyes metropolitan area).
• Hauts-de-France: 7 restaurants (including 3 in Amiens).
• Paris region: 2 restaurants (Montreuil and Romainville, in Seine-Saint-Denis).

KFC assures that transparency will be total: customers will be informed via specific signage in the restaurants and on the brand’s website. The supply will be provided by partner suppliers holding a halal certification.

This decision marks a turning point for KFC, which had already been at the center of controversies on the subject in 2010 and 2011. At the time, the brand only guaranteed the halal nature of a portion of its products (the "Hot Wings") in 30% of its restaurants, without making it a global marketing choice.

In 2026, the brand is assuming a complete transition for the selected sites. This full-scale test could, in the event of commercial success, encourage other franchisees in the network to adopt this model to capture a new customer base.
